ENGR-435 homework #3 - due by class time Monday 4/19/21
In class we touched on how flash memory works, i.e. a floating
gate insulated from the channel and main gate terminal in a MOSfet
structure. A reasonable question is how long will memory be retained?
Do a small literature search and find 2 or 3 sources that help
answer "how long is memory retained?" and write a summary of
what you find. Cite your sources. Your answer to "how long" will
be more than just a number. Find out what conditions affect a
number, mechanisms that are involved, possible environmental factors,
how the memory is used, etc.
Your sources must come from a professional
journal such as the IEEE, information published by the manufacter
of memory, a company who evaluates and uses memory (for example,
National Instruments publishes info about evaluating flash memory),
an engineering book, or academic paper published by or under the
direction of a professor. Information from blogs or wikipedia is
not acceptable.
